On Saturday, January 14, 2023, our Health and Hope event was held in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who would have been 90 years old this year. It was a chance for us all to come together as a community, support each other, and re-connect with our roots. We started with a 5K run through the historic Liberty City neighborhood, while being educated on movement as medicine. At the end of the race, we returned to a Pop-Up Event featuring local artists (entrepreneurs, guest speakers, community activists), free food, cash giveaways, kids activities, music—and more! We wanted this event to be one where people could come together as a community and enjoy themselves. We created a safe space for learning about how important mental health awareness and accessible health care resources are to building our legacy.
